Location/Dates

The conference will be located at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA, from Monday, January 30 to Thursday, February 2.

Registration

As faculty at DesignCon 2012, you will be pre-registered for the conference. Around the week of January 9th, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your attendance. We realize that not all Faculty are physically able to attend DesignCon, so to have an understanding of who will attend, we ask that you complete a “one click registration confirmation”. The email will have a check box where you can click to confirm that you will be travelling to attend DesignCon. It will help us to know to expect you at the venue.

Upon arriving at the venue, we ask that you proceed to Faculty (Speaker) Registration. Faculty Registration will be located in Room 202, of the Santa Clara Convention Center, and will be open during the following hours (times may change slightly):

  • Monday, January 30: 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Tuesday, January 31: 7:30am - 6:00pm
  • Wednesday, February 1: 7:30am - 6:00pm

Faculty Benefits

Free Registration: As Faculty, you will receive complimentary registration to the DesignCon Conference. There is no need to register, as you will be given a badge providing you access to all the technical sessions and all of the special events, including the keynote addresses and panel discussions. Refer to the Registration section for more information.
Extensive Exposure: Your name and session description are featured in our conference catalog, our primary promotional brochure, and on our website. We will also be conducting an aggressive PR campaign, designed to increase interest in the conference and your presentation. At the conference, your session information will be part of the show guide. In addition, your name, biography, and session description will be available online.
Access to the Faculty Lounge: Our lounge will be available for your use during the week of the conference. You will have space to prepare for your sessions, relax and network.

Role as Faculty

As Faculty at DesignCon, it is your responsibility to submit an electronic version of both your presentation and a technical white paper (10-25 pages, and up to 50 pages for tutorials) that will be posted to the DesignCon website for registered attendees to download prior to the conference. Please do not send hardcopies of these materials. These materials should be submitted electronically, directions below. These are a very important value to our conference attendees and your audience. Please submit them on or before the deadlines.

Papers are optional for tutorials and for panels.

Note: PowerPoint slides or class notes are not a substitute for the technical paper.

Audio Visual

Each of the conference session rooms will include the following:

  • 1 podium microphone
  • 2 tabletop microphones
  • 1 LCD projector with VGA cable
  • Screen

Note: Speakers will be responsible for providing their own laptop, presentation slides, and slide progression.

Evaluations

Evaluations are passed out to attendees as they enter the classroom. At the end of each session, our Conference Team collects the evaluation, tabulates the results and provides each instructor with individualized feedback on their performance a few weeks after the event. Please be sure to make an announcement about filling out evaluations during your conference session.

Podium Notes

Podium Notes, or Housekeeping Notes, will be distributed each morning by conference operations and left on the podium. The Podium Notes include brief announcements about DesignCon, such as the time of the Expo Hall Reception, for example. Please take time to read the Podium Notes at the start of the session. For your convenience, a slide titled Housekeeping Notes was placed into the PowerPoint presentation. It is meant to be a reminder to read the podium notes. You may replace or delete the slide if you like.
