Welcome to the DesignCon Speaker Center, we are thrilled you will be presenting at our event! This Speaker Center is designed to help you prepare for an exciting week of presenting, learning, and sharing ideas and provides general information associated with being a speaker at the event.

The Conference will be held Tuesday, January 27 – Friday, January 30 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. We look forward to seeing you then!


YOUR ROLE AS A SPEAKER

As a speaker at DesignCon, it is your responsibility to submit an electronic version of both your class notes/slide presentation and a technical white paper (1,500 word minimum). Both will be posted to the Proceedings website for registered attendees to download prior to the conference. Please do not send hardcopies of these materials. These notes should be submitted electronically, directions below.


PRESENTER WEBINAR

The DesignCon speaker webinar will be in mid-January and cover all of the basics of presenting at DesignCon, so you are prepared to give a successful presentation when you arrive.


IMPORTANT DEADLINES

SIGNED SPEAKER AGREEMENT

Deadline: Due Immediately

We require all DesignCon speakers to sign and return a speaker agreement. This agreement confirms your intent to speak at the event and gives the DesignCon Conference the right to post your contributions to the online conference proceedings, while you maintain your right to use your work elsewhere.

TECHNICAL PAPER (NOT REQUIRED FOR TUTORIALS OR PANELS)

Deadline: Monday, November 10, 2014

Please refer to the Technical Paper Templates, including proper naming of files. We ask that all speakers use the DesignCon Technical Paper Template to provide consistency throughout the event. Those speakers who fail to provide the proceedings materials by the deadline may not be considered for the Best Paper Award. Templates and instructions to submit proceedings are below.

AUDIO VISUAL

Each of the conference session rooms will include the following:

  • 1 wired lavalier microphone
  • 2 tabletop microphones
  • 1 LCD projector with VGA cable
  • Screen

Note: Speakers will be responsible for providing their own laptop, presentation slides, and slide progression. If you are using a Mac, please remember to bring a dongle.


EVALUATIONS

Mobile evaluations are back for 2015! Evaluations will be sent by email to attendees for each conference session they attend 15 minutes before the session concludes. They will be able to complete the evaluation on their phones or opt to complete later when they have access to their computers. Response rates improved at DesignCon 2014 via the advent of mobile evaluations and it supports our green initiatives by reducing paper waste.

Evaluations are comprised of the following categories, and based on Excellent, Good, Fair and Poor ratings.

  • Overall Session Rating
  • Technical Quality of Session
  • Organization of the Session
  • Speaker Rating (for each presenter)

REGISTRATION

As a speaker, you are entitled to a complimentary conference pass. We ask that you complete the quick registration process online. There is a dedicated link that will be included in an email from the DesignCon team. Once on-site, please proceed to the Main Registration center which is located in the Great America Ballroom J/K on first floor of the Santa Clara Convention Center.

TRADE/BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS; ONLINE/NEWS SERVICES

Reporters from industry trade publications, newspapers and wire services must provide a sample of an article published within the past six months that clearly displays authorship.

COMPLIMENTARY REGISTRATION

As a speaker, you receive complimentary registration to DesignCon. There is no need to register for specific classes, as you will be given a badge providing you access to all the classes and all of the special events, including the keynotes.

ACCESS TO THE SPEAKER LOUNGE

The Speaker Lounge will be available for your use during the week of the conference. You will have space to prepare for your sessions, relax and network.
