Statistical analysis is a well-established alternative to the traditional Monte Carlo method for efficient, low-BER simulation of serial link channels. Rigorous and physical modeling of transmitter (Tx) jitter remains a challenge in statistical methods due to its pattern-dependent nature and the resulting computational complexity. This paper introduces a new approach for statistical channel simulation that includes physical and accurate models of the various components of Tx jitter. Efficient simulation is made possible by a new, NP-complete algorithm designed to reduce the computational complexity of the rigorous jitter models and to make fast numerical simulations practical. Results between the proposed method and long Monte Carlo simulations are compared and shown to be in excellent agreement.
