
- GHz BGA and QFN SocketsInterconnect Technologies and Components
The Ironwood Electronics line of sockets for BGA, QFN, LGA, and other SMT packages provide a selection for both laboratory test and high volume test. We presently offer 4 major contactor types to handle laboratory testing, high volume test, and temperature test. Contactor types include wire-filled elastomer, spring pin, diamond particle, and capped-silver-particle elastomer. Depending on your application, these sockets can operate at bandwidths up to 12 GHz, and can withstand up to 500,000 insertions. The sockets are designed to dissipate up to seven watts without extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100 watts with a custom heat sink. Some other key features are that the sockets are solder-less and offer the industry's smallest footprint.
- BGA SMT AdapterInterconnect Technologies and Components
The Giga-snaP™ 0.8, 1.0, and 1.27mm pitch BGA Surface Mount Feet Adapter line of products provide an inexpensive and reliable method for socketing 1mm BGA chips. The product line consists of patent pending female sockets with machined pins epoxy over-molded into an assembly that matches a particular BGA pattern. The epoxy over-molded female BGA socket is soldered to a PCB using standard soldering methods. A corresponding male pin BGA adapter, to which the user attaches their BGA chip, is plugged into the female socket on the board. The chip is interconnected, and the system is ready to go. The SMT adapters have the same solder ball types as the chips they are emulating. These adapters have less than 1/3 the insertion force of competitive adapters.
