Coreworks S.A. is a semiconductor Intellectual Property company based in Lisbon, Portugal. The company operates in the consumer, multimedia and communications markets. Current products include reconfigurable coprocessor architectures, autonomous network interface cores, processor cores, digital audio multi-channel asynchronous sample rate converters, and various digital audio interface cores. These products can reduce the need for specific DSP cores and replace many common discrete components. Coreworks is a well financed venture capitalist backed company.
Technologies on Display
- SideWorksSideWorks is a reconfigurable coprocessor core designed to provide high parallelism of functional units and memory accesses. Its patent pending architecture is scaleable and can support varying numbers and types of functional units and embedded memories. It is used to accelerate nested loop series which represent the computational bottleneck in many multimedia and communications algorithms. Its configuration register determines a dynamic datapath for executing a particular nested loop series of an application. SideWorks has been used in audio algorithms such as AC-3 and MP3, but it can be used in any applications where low power consumption and high performance are needed. It comes with an AMBATM or CORECONNECTTM interface, supporting several commercial processors as well as those supplied by Coreworks.
- FaceWorksFaceWorks is an autonomous network interface IP core designed to provide Ethernet based communications, permitting data exchange between Systems on Chip (SoCs) and other systems. It does not require the use of an embedded processor, associated software driver and communication protocol stack. FaceWorks implements in hardware a basic Ethernet/IP/UDP protocol stack topped by a proprietary layer for proving reliable parallel connections to multiple cores. FaceWorks also provides the functionalities of a regular Ethernet MAC IP core featuring AMBATM or CORECONNECTTM interfaces. This IP core is part of the Core Access Networks™ patent pending technology from Coreworks. FaceWorks can be used for multiple connectivity needs and it has been successfully used in multimedia streaming, system prototyping, debug, configuration and programming.
- Digital Audio CoresCoreworks provides a portfolio of digital audio IP cores already adopted by many of the top semiconductor companies. An asynchronous sample rate converter core allows hardware re-sampling of PCM audio streams, facilitating transmission and matching of video related frequencies. Its architecture is compact and scaleable, currently supporting up to 8-channel audio. Fully digital (no analog PLLs) S/PDIF audio interface cores are being sold since 2003. They can be configured to support both PCM and non-PCM audio streams. Serial input/output audio cores can be configured to support practically all kinds of stereo and multi-channel audio interfaces: I2S, left/right justified, and TDM audio formats. The digital audio cores can be combined with our processing and networking technologies to provide innovative complete solutions.
