A new methodology to model advanced SerDes devices operating above 5 Gbps is currently being considered for inclusion in the IBIS standard. This methodology, known as AMI, was developed to allow models from different IP vendors to interoperate in PCB design environment, allowing system companies to easily simulate models from different IP vendors using one EDA tool. This tutorial will describe how to use this methodology for model creation and how to reuse existing models and analytical tools such as MATLAB® and Simulink® to generate AMI models. You will also discover insights into algorithmic modeling from experienced model developers.
