Demonstration of SerDes Modeling Using the Algorithmic Model Interface (AMI) Standard
Tuesday, February 5 | 10:15 am – 10:55 am

To date, it has been difficult to simulate a high-speed serial link with a driver and receiver that are supplied by different vendors, because models supplied by different vendors are almost never compatible. The AMI is an API developed by the IBIS ATM standards committee to solve this problem.

This paper introduces the AMI standard and demonstrates its use in modeling the behavior of both the data path and the adaptive control loops. The demonstration transmission path includes a transmitter with de-emphasis and FFE, a lossy transmission line, and a receiver with peaking filter, clock recovery, and DFE.
