In response to the Patent Reform Act of 2007-which intends to reduce legal abuse from patent-collecting and — enforcing entities unaffectionately referred to as "patent trolls" — this paper shows that, more accurately, such legislation actually limits the legal protection for patent owners by reducing the power of such entities to act on their behalf. Such actions cripple an inventor's financial leverage in the marketplace, leading to a reduction in technology investment across the board and stippling innovation throughout the country.
