Challenges and Solutions for Removing Fixture Effects in Multiport Measurements

As data rates continue to rise in today's digital networks, the need to accurately remove the fixture effects continues to become more important. This paper will discuss several calibration and measurement techniques needed for removing fixture effects. One common technique used is to design a TRL calibration. A question that always arises is: how can I determine the quality of this cal kit? Techniques for designing good cal kits, validating the quality of existing cal kits, and alternative methods to remove fixture effects, including considerations for simplifying multiport fixture removal calibrations will be discussed.
