Q: Where do I send my completed paper?
A: Your completed paper should be sent to Cheryl Biernacki (cbiernacki@iec.org).
Q: Am I registered for this event?
A: Yes, all authors and co-authors are registered automatically.
Q: Are there any registration fees for authors?
A: Authors and co-authors receive complimentary registration for the day of their presentation. They
may attend all technical sessions and exhibits on that day at no charge. We also offer a special
faculty tuition rate of $100 for the full four-day program to authors who wish to attend sessions
on other days.
Q: Where will my paper appear?
A: All papers will be included on the DesignCon 2007 CD–ROM distributed to registered attendees.
Q: What guidelines do I need to follow in preparing my presentation?
A: Presentations should be in PowerPoint format. The IEC does not insist that you follow any standard template, although we do
remind you of the non-commercial, educational nature of the technical program. Company logos are acceptable. Slides devoted to
"sales pitch" information regarding companies or products are not acceptable. Keep in mind that presentations are meant to provide
attendees with the same information contained in the paper itself, but in a condensed and visually accessible format. The IEC will
be happy to review any presentations in advance to ensure that they meet our quality guidelines. If you would like feedback
concerning your presentation, e-mail it to cbiernacki@iec.org.
Q: What do I do upon arriving at the Santa Clara Convention Center?
A: Immediately upon arriving, check in at the DesignCon registration desk to pick up your badge and other credentials.
Q: Is there a room reserved for speaker preparation?
A: Yes. A dedicated speaker preparation room will be available to all speakers in room 211. Speakers are welcome to use the speaker preparation room for on-site preparation meetings with their panelists.
Q: What audio-visual equipment will the session room contain?
A: All meeting rooms will be equipped with a projector and necessary microphones. Speakers must
bring their own laptops loaded with their presentations.
Q: What if I have special AV needs in addition to those included in the standard room set-up?
A: Send an e-mail detailing any additional AV needs or concerns to cbiernacki@iec.org.
Q: Am I allowed to pass out materials in my session?
A: We strongly discourage handing out paper copies of your presentation in the session room, as
we are including all papers on the DesignCon 2007 CD–ROM. Any presentation handouts are the
sole responsibility of the speaker. Absolutely no marketing materials, company brochures or gifts
are allowed in session rooms.
