We propose a new approach for a precision digital noise source, with significant advantages over traditional analog and digital sources: amplitude, frequency spectrum, and noise distribution are deterministic and controllable over a wide range. The noise signal is stable and repeatable.
Noise sources are used in many applications; examples from test and measurement are noise figure measurements of analog components and jitter tolerance and signal-to-noise ratio tests of digital receivers.
