The MIPS32® 34K™ core is a revolutionary new family of processor cores, featuring the first implementation of the MIPS® MT ASE multi-threading technology. The MT ASE, specifically targeted to the embedded market, enables virtual processors, lightweight threads, and QoS mechanisms. By executing multiple software threads in parallel, it provides significant gains in application throughput and real-time responsiveness for a very modest increase in die size. Because of the architectural support, software written using common embedded techniques, including multiprocessing and thread support libraries, can be run unchanged, thereby preserving investment in existing software.
