New Era for RF CMOS Design
Tuesday, February 7 | 9:20 am - 10:00 am

Albert Yen, Mixed-Mode and Radio Frequency Technology Manager, UMC Corporation
Daniel Wu, RF and Mixed-Mode Specialist, Ansoft Corporation
Lawrence Williams, Director, Ansoft Corporation

This paper presentation will discuss the new era for RF CMOS that enables design, simulation, and full-chip verification of radio circuits. The combination of advanced semiconductor technology, design service, reference designs, and advanced electronic design automation (EDA) provides the solution. Full-chip verification with transistor-level circuits for multiple circuit blocks, on-chip extracted parasitics, and IC packaging will be shown. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) time-domain waveforms are applied to the input of the receiver circuits and circuit simulation is performed on the full receive chain, including all extracted parasitics, to verify performance of the full radio circuit prior to silicon fabrication.
