Over the past couple of years, a new level of abstraction has been emerging in the design and verification of electronic systems, called the Electronic System Level. This higher level of abstraction combines both the hardware and software design disciplines as well as bringing together the worlds of design, implementation and verification. In this introductory TechForum, the main elements of this new abstraction will be presented along with possible ways in which elements of these techniques can be incorporated into existing methodologies used by most companies today.
