A Discussion of Rj/Dj Compliance Measurement and What To Do When You Don't Hit Your Numbers
Tuesday, February 1 | 9:20am - 10:00am
Mike Williams, President, Amherst Systems Associates
In this presentation, we examine the paradox of how a variety of sanctioned RjDj methods produce results which do not and likely cannot ever correlate. Through both fundamental analysis of the measurement methods, and measurement examples, we illustrate and explain the differences between several different methods. A number of example serial-data waveforms (e.g. Fibre Channel, Serial ATA, Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, XAUI, etc) that do not meet their Rj/Dj compliance figures, we will then demonstrate several approaches to bore down and pinpoint the root-cause of the excess jitter.
