One of the main focus areas of OpenAccess (OA) this past year has been its adoption in nanometer design flows and design environments. This panel will feature representatives from industry leaders, discussing how OA is enabling their specific nanometer production environments. Each will be addressing his real pilot OA deployment projects within his respective company, an overview and objective of company projects, the milestones reached, the benefits realized, and the pitfalls to avoid for achieving such a flow.

Chairperson

Jim Wilmore, Research and Development Senior Engineer, Hewlett-Packard, has held positions as an application/tool developer, tool customizer, CAD integrator, CAD system architect, and infrastructure designer. He is primarily focused in database and design management, and for the past few years been HP's primary representative to the OpenAccess Coalition.

Panelists

Shaun Deacon, Senior Software Engineer, Fujitsu Microelectronics America, has more than 16 years experience in developing CAD software for the semiconductor industry. He has created a wide variety of applications ranging from stand-alone point-tools for particular aspects of a design flow to complete design environments. Mr. Deacon was previously with Plessey Semiconductors.

Timothy Ehrler, Senior Principal Methodology Engineer, Philips Semiconductors, is currently an architect of the Philips SoC design environment for leading edge technology designs. He joined VLSI Technology in 1993 as a staff software engineer, during which time he received a patent for timing analysis and model optimization, with another related patent pending. After the acquisition by Philips Semiconductors, Mr. Ehrler became the manager of ASIC technical programs.

Scott Peterson, RapidChip Methodology, LSI Logic, is responsible for the creation and delivery of the design tools for the RapidChip program, system architecture and design closure methodologies. In addition, Mr. Peterson is the current OpenAccess Coalition chairman. Prior to LSI, he was an ASIC design engineer at what is currently General Dynamics and formally Control Data Corporation.
